When went me on the net, I had fallen several times on this challenge to sew a piece of the ongoing burda magazine… challenge not for me, I struggle to keep deadlines, I often put time "late bloomer" my projects…

And this challenge has changed recently, it is more flexible and allows to present each month from clothing always a Mag burda or cover, current or former number… So here I say yes, I have a good collection in my library and as number of seamstresses, I especially laminated them and not really used…

So this challenge is perfect to get me a little kick in the butt and get everything simply.

I start with a boss that I had planned to do for a while (cf my projects "makenine"), the vest of the magazine of March 2013.

A very feminine model with its well-placed ruching and its fitted cut that could become the perfect basic little. I have been searching the net to see which had already sewn it in order to avoid the possible pitfalls (to see here, here and here) and what I've learned is that it was small. Usually in the burdas, as soon as it comes to jersey I take a size 38 up otherwise it's big everywhere. So I cut a size 40 which looks not bad even if is not really tight at the top.

The fabric comes from "tissue stop" store, found at three euros per meter. It is a ribbed jersey that stretches a lot and that is soft to fall…

However at the level of the seam itself I was afraid of the double needle hem and it has not missed… it blithely, gondola while I was careful not to stretch the fabric.

I have not even tried to make a buttonhole and opted for ease of pressures black resins. Yes Yes, it's basic sewing but it is this type of garment that turns the most finally…

Let me on the next when I find a jersey with colors or cool patterns…

RECAP:

  • boss: vest burda (mag March 2013)
  • size: 40 and 42 on the bottom of the vest… Maybe a size and less at the top would have been necessary where it is due to my too stretch fabric…
  • fabric: very stretchy mesh of the "fabric stop" store at 3 euros per meter.
  • again? I think I will test in a fabric with elasticity less to see the rendering…
  • Photos: thanks to my 9 year old daughter who made great pictures…
